Fantastic February TBR

You might remember me participating in some of Kathy’s monthly challenges last year – they are great because they give me a theme to narrow down my TBR, but also leave a lot of freedom to choose my books within that limit.

Me, when I realised February is all about fantasy novels:

Me, when I realised February is the shortest month of the year and my fantasy TBR is the longest:

Obviously, I have to narrow the list down somehow.

First, I have way too many ARCs. I know this is relative, because other people sometimes have 40 or more, but for me? If the number goes over 10, I cry. Especially because for several months now I’ve mostly been reading shorter reads up to 250 pages, and most of my current ARCs are over 300 or even 400.

Thankfully, many of these ARCs are fantasy, paranormal or magical realism (and most of them aren’t even overdue yet), so my main goal for February will be to reduce that number as much as I can.

Also I’m in love with Jodie Whittaker and the 13th Doctor, but this isn’t really news. Just putting that out there.

Those were all my fantasy ARCs. I’m most excited about The Girl King, Wicked Saints and New Suns.

My secondary main goal is to get to the fantasy novels I bought in January so they don’t just sit on my shelves for several years after being bought, like some of my other books have been. These new books are:

There are also two fantasy/fairytale anthologies I’d like to read, although I doubt I’ll have time for them this month:

And just for fun, here are all the fantasy novels on my yearly TBR, so you understand why I say it’s the longest:

The Burning Maze
The Girl From Everywhere
Daughter of Smoke and Bone
Given to the Sea
American Gods
City of Strife
The Coldest Girl in Coldtown
Of Fire and Stars
Boots for the Gentleman
My Heart is Ready
Angel Radio
Wild Seed
Shadow Magic
The Abyss Surrounds Us
Crooked Kingdom
Plastic Wings
Mask of Shadows
Beauty and Cruelty
Daughter of the Burning City
Close Quarter
The Dream-Quest of Vellitt Boe
Running with the Pack
The Fifth Season
The Amulet of Samarkand
Equal Rites
Children of the Knight
Unburied Fables
Bellamy and the Brute
Boots for the Gentleman

What are some fantasy novels you’re looking forward to reading?

  1. Angelfall is one on my shelf that I need to read eventually and I really enjoyed The Amulet of Samarkund the year that I read it as well! I love that there are so many fantasy books in your future and happy reading in February!
